A Message from the Chair:

There is little doubt (and a lot of evidence) that being physically, artistically and culturally active improves our lives and makes for a stronger, healthier, more exciting community.

The Parks and Recreation and Culture and Arts Committee is committed to promoting projects, facilities and opportunities for residents and visitors to get physically active, to become creative and to celebrate our cultural diversities.

We are currently embarked on a number of exciting projects, including, but not limited to:

-the development and redevelopment of playgrounds and open play areas in the community.  An Ad Hoc Committee has been established to make recommendations to PARCA and then to Municipal Council;

-the development of multi-use interpretive hiking trails at the undeveloped Kenneth Teasdale Community Park.  There are still positions available on this Ad Hoc Committee.  Please contact Brady Ropp at 705-865-2519 or massey.arena@sables-spanish.ca;

-the creation of an extensive survey to help our committee and the Parks & Recreation Department to develop better policies and programming.

If you are interested in becoming more involved in leisure, athletic, cultural or arts programming in the community, we would love to have you on board!  You can:

• apply to Council to become a member of PARCA (we have vacancies),
• can volunteer to run programs through Parks & Recreation (workshops, clubs, teams, one shot activities, etc.)
• make use of our facilities and services
