Fire Ban
Due to the wildfire potential being extremely high, there is a fire ban effective immediately.
All active burning permits have been revoked and no burning activities are permitted for the duration of the fire ban.
We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to wildfire prevention and community safety.
Clean-Up Days
Dumping at the Tennyson Landfill will be free on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 from 10a.m. to 4p.m.
Please note: Mattresses and construction waste are not included.

The brush dump will be opened by 2p.m. May 4th and will remain open.
ATTENTION: The brush dump is for ORGANIC MATTER ONLY! If there is evidence of garbage being dumped at this site again then access will be restricted.

Community Safety & Well-Being Plan
The Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers is proud to share the newly refreshed LaCloche Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan 2025–2029, developed in partnership with the with the Espanola and Area Community of Care Planning Network (CCPN). This plan strengthens collaboration between municipal partners, service providers, and residents to support the safety, wellness, and resilience of our community.

Senior of the Year & Youth Volunteer Awards
Council is requesting nominations for “Senior of the Year” & “Youth Volunteer”. This is our opportunity to honour outstanding local residents. Recipients of both awards must reside in the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers.
Recipients of the “Senior of the Year” are individuals who, after age 65, have enriched the social, cultural or civic life of the community without thought of personal or financial gain. Ontario seniors deserve special recognition for their outstanding accomplishments.
Recipients of the “Youth Volunteer” are individuals between the ages of 15 – 24 who have contributed a significant amount of time and service, without pay, to a charity, not for profit organization or an individual.
Please submit your nomination no later than 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, to the Township Office. Nomination forms are available at the office or you can click the following links.

Upcoming Garbage & Recycling Collection
Thursday March 26th:
– There will be a double allowance for garbage.
– ONLY comingle recycling will be collected (as per the regular schedule).
Thursday April 2nd:
– A double allowance for recycled cardboard/paper (commercial collection).

Agnew Lake Drawdown Notice
Current planning forecasts the need to draw down to the lower operating plan limit to minimize flooding potential. Water level on Agnew Lake will be lowered to 846.0 ft, and it is anticipated that this level will be achieved by April 1, 2026.

User Fee Notice
Take Notice that pursuant to Section 391 of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers intends to consider a bylaw to adopt the proposed new Schedule of User Fees Bylaw and the Amended Building Permit Fees Bylaw for services provided by the municipality (see below).
Any person may make verbal or written comments regarding the proposed amendments to the bylaws. Comments regarding the proposed bylaws will be received by the Clerk until Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 4:00 PM by telephone at (705) 865-2646, by email at inquiries@sables-spanish.ca, or by mail at Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers (11 Birch Lake Rd, Massey, ON P0P 1P0).
